Mike is owner and operator of SISSCO Consulting, a construction consulting service, and Sterling and Company, a construction contracting firm.
He began his construction career as an itinerant carpenter in the San Francisco Bay Area and then worked as a journeyman carpenter at Lake Tahoe, California. As construction waned at the Lake, he returned to the Bay Area to work as a cabinet maker and installer. In the mid-70's he earned a general contractor's license and started his own construction company.
Ten years later, he founded a home inspection company and began inspecting houses for sellers and prospective buyers. That led eventually to construction consulting and litigation support. He has developed specialties in water intrusion investigation/remediation, defect investigation, cost-to-cure estimating, contract administration, and dispute resolution.
Twenty years after that, he is more selective about home inspections that he will accept, but doing more and more consulting. He stays current on residential building trends and developments and continues to provide contracting services, mostly for return and referral customers.
Mike also follows his other interests among which include backyard stargazing, birding, listening to music, armchair naturalism, and writing. |
