Pete Engle is a licensed professional engineer, Indagator, home inspector,
former rocket scientist, and "proud papa". Yes, in his first career,
Pete helped the US government design and build missiles and other things that
make stuff blow up far away. While this was great fun, Peace began to break
out all over the world in the early 1990's, and Pete thought it was time for
a career move. While that decision may seem premature in retrospect, he is
not at all unhappy with it. Pete has always liked poking around other people's
houses, and home inspection lets him get paid for it. 
Pete grew up playing with the tools in his grandfather's shop. His grandfather
was a builder and carpenter, and big tools have always brought joy to Pete's
heart. He managed to make it to adulthood with all of his fingers intact,
and attended engineering school at Lehigh University, graduating in 1985.Prior
to entering the home inspection business, Pete paid off part of his expensive
private college education building decks, patios, and other home additions
(in addition to designing and building missiles of course). He did minor work
as an electrician, plumber, mason, carpenter, pretty much anything needed
for the job. He also renovated a few houses, including his current project,
a 100 year old Victorian house in Rumson.
Pete has now been a home inspector for over 6 years, and has inspected over
2000 houses and commercial buildings. In addition to basic home inspection
work, Pete also provides expert witness and consulting services on moisture
intrusion, building performance issues, indoor air quality, and synthetic
stucco evaluations. Pete is a member of the Indagators, ASHI, NSPE, BOCA,
and other professional and trade organizations, and he is currently the Vice
President of the Garden State Chapter of ASHI.
While he is not pursuing his vocation of engineering and building inspection,
he is following his dream of becoming a winemaker. Pete owns and operates
a vineyard management company (www.tworiverwinegrowers.com) that installs
vineyards on estate properties in his home town, and hopes someday soon to
open a winery in the area.
